Hey friends,
I recently stumbled upon this brilliant concept called ‘reducing importance’, which has completely changed the way I think about my work, relationships, and everyday tasks.
The idea come from the book ‘Reality Transurfing’ and the general message is that a lot of our stress in life comes from placing too much importance on things. Our default reaction is always to take things way too seriously e.g. speaking to strangers, making YouTube videos, writing essays, etc.
But, if we just dial the importance of that thing down in our mind, we’d be a lot less anxious.
So, one thing I’ve been trying to do recently (especially when something urgent pops up where I feel that sort of frantic energy bubbling up inside me) is to take a breath and remind myself to turn down the seriousness dial in my mind. By acknowledging that most tasks aren’t life-or-death situations, I can approach them with a lighter, more relaxed attitude.
Ultimately, I’ll still get things done. But I feel so much better and do better work because I realise that I don’t need to take everything so seriously and it’s okay to have fun 😜
Have a great week!
Ali xx

⏳ 80,000 Hours – Help solve the world’s most pressing problems
You’ll spend about 80,000 hours on your career across your lifetime.
That’s a lot of time, and it means that how you choose to use your career is (probably) your most important ethical decision. What will you choose to focus on, and how could you use that time to help make a positive difference?
80,000 Hours is a nonprofit that wants to help you figure out how to use your career to make a big, positive impact on the world, by working on the world’s most pressing problems.
They have tons of research and advice on high-impact careers, and it’s all available for free, forever.
For example — everyone’s talking about AI right now, and how it might be hugely beneficial or hugely dangerous. But 80,000 Hours has been researching the possible effects of AI, and how you can use your career to help reduce these risks, for over a decade.
They also write more generally about careers — such as career capital and investing in yourself; balancing impact and doing what you love; and why some ways of helping are far more effective than others. They also have a podcast, a regularly-updated job board, and free 1-1 calls with careers advisors.
And if you like, they can send you a copy of their in-depth career guide for free — check it out here.
Thanks to my friends at 80,000 Hours for sponsoring this issue of Sunday Snippets 🙏
♥️ My Favourite Things
📸 Camera – Ricoh GRiiiX camera. I bought this on the recommendation of my videographer, Gordon, because I want to start taking more photos. I’ve only been using it for a day, but I’m enjoying it so far. I particularly like how compact it is because it fits in your pocket, so there’s literally zero friction taking out the house with me. And I don’t really like taking photos with on my phone because I still think camera photos are sigificantly nicer. So I’ll try it out and report back if I see it as a long term addition to my tech arsenal.
🗣️ Speaking Course – Ultraspeaking’s Fundamentals. This is a speaking program that I’ve been using for a while now and I can’t recommend them enough. I’ve used their games to warm up before recording videos for my Youtube channel and I’ve even invited them to host multiple workshops for students taking my Part-Time YouTuber Academy because they’re just so good. Btw their upcoming course, Fundamentals, is opening for enrollment on April 17th and I highly recommend you check it out.
🍗 Protein – Wyldsson Vegan Protein Powder. This was recommended to me by Cliff Weitzman (who I recently had a chat with on the pod). I bought the chocolate version of this and it’s very tasty. I now have a protein shake every morning when I wake up to help me with my goal of getting hench.
🎬 Video – Revealing Ship 30’s Million-Dollar Marketing Strategy. Dickie Bush and Nicolas Cole talk about their million dollar email marketing funnel. There’s a ton of great information that’s got me thinking a lot about my own funnels for the business.
🎙️ Podcast – High Performance Coach: How To Build Psychological Resilience – Dr Aria. I had a great chat with Dr Aria, a clinical psychologist and one of the UK’s leading performance coaches who specialises in psychological resilience. He shares what he’s learned about our life quest and finding our truth, the importance of struggle in growth, the power of vulnerability and how to build greater resilience. A lot of this conversation gave me goosebumps, and I can guarantee it’ll make you reconsider your approach to finding happiness and fulfilment 🙂

💵 How I Made $1,600,000 in 30 Day – Recently my team and I hit this insane milestone of generating $1.6m in revenue in 30 days. I’ve been trying to make money online for around 15 years now, but in the past 3-6 months there were a few different things that really helped level us all up. So in this video I talk through 7 lessons that I’ve learnt over the years, but also the ones I’ve thought about most recently that have enabled us to get to this point.
✍️ Quote of the Week
“The only people who can still strike us as normal are those we don’t yet know very well. The best cure for love is to get to know them better.”
