I’m looking for a Videographer & Editor to work in-person with me and our team in Hong Kong. You’ll be our eyes and camera across everything we do at Sparkle Studios — YouTube videos, weekly-ish vlogs, podcasts, walk-and-talks, social content, ads, team offsites, and whatever else we dream up.

Think of the setup Steven Bartlett has behind Diary of a CEO, Chris Williamson has with the Modern Wisdom vlog, or what Dan Martell, Daniel Dalen, and Codie Sanchez do — someone pointing a camera at the interesting stuff, then turning it into stories worth watching. An active fly on the wall.

🧭 About Sparkle Studios

Our mission is to create inspiring, educational content and products that change people’s lives. We do that across three strands:

  • Content — my personal brand (YouTube 6.5M subs, Instagram 1.1M followers, LinkedIn) and my wife Izzy’s personal brand (YouTube, 800k subs, Instagram).
  • Education – Lifestyle Business Academy, our online business school helping beginners build their first $100K online business.
  • Software — three apps: VoicePal (AI ghostwriter in your pocket, launched 18 months ago and going strong), Superfocus (productivity), and CreatorGrid (creator growth + monetisation).

Across all three strands, everything is video-first. We need someone to own video across the whole business.

📅 Hours, Location & Setup

  • Location: Hong Kong, in-person. We’re in the office Monday–Friday and want you in the room with us most days.
  • Hours: Full-time preferred, but we’re genuinely open to part-time / agency / retainer arrangements if you’re the right person and already run your own thing.
  • Salary: Competitive, negotiable depending on experience and structure.
  • Travel: Expect meaningful trips. Examples already on the calendar: team offsite in Thailand (July), entrepreneurs’ mastermind in Thailand (July), entrepreneurs’ event in Scotland (August), team offsite in Sri Lanka (December).

🎬 What You’ll Actually Be Doing

A deliberately varied role. A given week might include any of:

  • 🎞️ YouTube main-channel shoots — currently Becky (our YouTube producer) or I hold the camera. You’d take that over and raise the bar.
  • 🚶 Weekly-ish vlogs — following me around Hong Kong and wherever we go, capturing the interesting stuff and cutting it into a Modern Wisdom-style vlog.
  • Walk-and-talks & casual interviews — lav mics on, grabbing coffee with a guest, keeping it loose and watchable.
  • 🎙️ Proper podcast setups — e.g. when someone like Simon Squibb is in town, you run the full multi-cam podcast rig.
  • 📱 Social filming days — walking around Hong Kong answering audience questions, cutting to Reels / Shorts / LinkedIn.
  • 📢 Ads & marketing shoots — creative direction + camera for paid and organic promos across VoicePal, Superfocus, CreatorGrid, and LBA.
  • 🧑‍🏫 LBA content — curriculum videos, workshop recordings, student-facing material.
  • ✈️ Offsites & events — Thailand team offsite (July), entrepreneurs’ mastermind (July), Scotland entrepreneurs’ event (August), and more throughout the year.
  • ✂️ Editing & story — cutting your own vlogs and social pieces, or handing off tightly organised rough cuts with a clear story.
  • 🤖 AI-augmented workflows — transcription, rough cuts, b-roll selection, clip extraction for socials. If you’re already playing with these tools, we want to hear about it.

It’s part videographer, part creative director of photography, part social-clip engine. Exact shape of the role will flex to your strengths.

✅ What We’re Looking For

  • A strong reel. Cinematography, lighting, sound, pacing — you can point to work you’re proud of.
  • A vlog instinct. You can capture real life without making it feel performed, and find the story in a week of footage.
  • Editing chops. Premiere, Final Cut, or DaVinci Resolve. Fast, organised, clean project files.
  • Gear fluency. Cameras, lenses, gimbals, lav mics, lighting — you know what to reach for and can recommend upgrades.
  • Podcast + multi-cam competence. You can set up a proper sit-down shoot as easily as a run-and-gun vlog.
  • AI-forward. Already using AI tools to speed up transcription, rough cuts, and social reformatting.
  • Great in the room. You’ll sometimes film around Izzy, our daughter Sophia, team members, and guests. Discreet, respectful, easy to be around.
  • Calm, reliable, systematic. Footage backed up, deadlines met, no lost SD cards.
  • Genuine love for the work. You care about creators, entrepreneurship, personal development, and the craft of telling a story well.

🎁 What We Offer

  • 🌍 Reach — your work will go out to millions across my and Izzy’s channels.
  • 🧠 Creative ownership — you’ll shape the look and feel of a new era of content, not just execute someone else’s shot list.
  • ✈️ Travel — regular shoots, offsites, and events (Thailand, Scotland, and wherever the year takes us).
  • 🛠️ Proper kit budget.
  • 🏠 In-person HK team culture — we’re deliberately building an in-person team because the creative energy compounds.
  • 🔀 Flexible structure — full-time, part-time, or retainer if you already run an agency.
